With my new adventure (and not having a job yet in this town) it is important for me to start saving cash where I can! You might see a few posts here and there about this new goal and today is the first one! I made my own body scrub out of simple ingredients you already have in your kitchen!
I have pretty good skin so using homemade things like this doesn't have a negative effect usually. If you have naturally oily skin this might not be the best recipe to follow but if you look online there are TONS of options!
This is a Vanilla Olive Oil Sugar scrub and I love it!! The recipe is this:
- 1/2 cup granulated (white) sugar
- 1 cup brown (dark or light) sugar
- 1/4 cup turbinado sugar (Sugar In The Raw)
- 1 Tablespoon honey
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
- (optional) 1 Vitamin E tablet
The Vitamin E is for added moisture! You can use a gel cap and warm it in your hands and then it will break open easily and you can pour the gel into your mix! Just stir it up in a mixing bowl and store it in an air tight container like the mason jar I put mine in!
Some recipes like to use a larger amount of turbinado sugar for a courser scrub. I only needed a gentle scrub so I used more brown sugar than the Sugar In The Raw. There is a lot of room for experiment and variation in something like this so have fun with it!
I might try to make one with lemon next time!
So there you have it! A diy home beauty tutorial! I hope you guys liked it! If there are other homemade beauty recipes you would like to see just leave a comment or send me a message! :)
Wishing you all a lovely little day!

I keep meaning to try out homemade scrubs - but then I got a ton for Christmas and I don't need them. Will definitely be looking for sugar scrub recipes when I run out though, I think lemon would be great :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift idea! I'll definitely have to try making this soon!!
