Like Grandma Like Granddaughter

This is a very special post today... Someone commented on my last post and said that they loved the scarf I was wearing in my photos, so I thought I would give a little background story! :)

Last month I was digging around in the sewing room and I found my Grandma's old knitting basket. She passed away while I was in high school, I know that she was sick, but honestly I think she died of a broken heart. After my Grandpa died her health declined very quickly.

There is one special thing that I share with my Grandma though... knitting. I have never had to try very hard at it... learning the stitches and keeping track of the patterns is easy for me and I can pick up a piece of knitting I haven't worked on in years and know right where I need to pick up. I think it must be in my genes. :)

In her knitting basket I found this piece still on the needles. She was working on an afghan and it was the last thing she ever made with her knitting. I felt panicked when I found it because it was slipping off of the needles!! So instead of risking it ever unraveling and losing it forever, I decided to finish it off. It is a beautiful pattern and one of my favorite colors, so it almost felt like it was left for me.

I turned it into a circle-scarf so that I could wear it and carry her with me all the time.

It felt so special to me that I had to share. Does anyone else have something that they share with a relative or loved one? Do you feel like it keeps them close in a way? This was such a happy find. :)

Wishing you all a lovely little day.
